Dixon Recovery Institute is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit. All donations are tax deductible and will be used to benefit at risk youth. Drug and alcohol services are fully covered by Medi-Cal. Court mandated clients welcome.

About (Biography)

After being a successful entertainment lawyer and professor for 20 years, Ms. Ronda Dixon decided to re-direct her focus. Ms. Dixon decided to explore the possibilities of helping her community, which had been her passion for many years.    Ms. Dixon had a vision to build an organization from the ground up. However, if Ms. Dixon knew nothing else, she knew the community needed someone with her drive and dedication.   In 2007, Ms. Dixon founded, Dixon Recovery Institute, located in Los Angeles, California. 

The theme of the organization was very important to Ms. Dixon. It was important to have a place of solace where members of the community could go for the help and attention they needed. The theme of “Recover their Dreams” proves to be very relevant as community members come to the Dixon Recovery Institute for services. The facility is currently a fully functioning center that contributes to break the negative cycles that are apparent in the African American community. She works hard to employ, and assist those from the surrounding community as well. 

Ms. Dixon is currently the Executive Director of the Dixon Recovery Institute. As an Executive Director, Ms. Dixon is responsible for the day –to-day activities of the clinic. She believes that is essential to strengthen the family unit by promoting sobriety and well-being through proactive programs of education, prevention and intervention. In addition to Alcohol and Drug Education, the program provides tutoring in math and English language arts, computer skills training, Gang Intervention/Prevention, Anger Management coping and Parenting Skills. Part of Ms. Dixon’s vision is to offer programs that help her clients live a balanced life to be productive citizens. 

She attended UC Davis, Davis, California, Law, 1986-1988, where she received her Juris Doctorate. She attended Pitzer College, Claremont, CA, Film, Communications, and English Literature from 1979-1983 where she received her Bachelor of Arts. Ms Dixon has many accomplishments that include: 2003-2010 “Some of Us are Brave” Black Women’s Collective, Radio Show, KPFK. It was a program that highlighted the social justice issues facing African American women. She continues her fight for social justice issues that plague the community where she used to live. Her son, Devin is currently a graduating senior about to attend college.
